We will be celebrating the 31st National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week on July 17-23, 2009. This year’s theme is “31st NDPR Week: Tungo sa Katuparan ng Karapatan ng PWDs.” Quoted below are the objectives of the event as enumerated by the National Council On Disability Affairs (NCDA).
The annual observance of the NDPR Week aims:
- To stimulate public awareness and support on disability issues and concerns that will strengthen the involvement of the different government and non-government organizations including PWDs themselves and the media;
- To serve as a vehicle of information for programs being implemented by government agencies including non-government organizations that adhere to the promotion of the welfare of PWDs;
- To develop and strengthen cooperation among agencies of the government to take active responsibility in uplifting the economic and social condition of the sector of persons with disabilities; and
- To forge a strong partnership between and among all sectors of the Philippine society for better understanding of disability issues and concerns.
