Seminar-Workshop Series from My Little Butterfly

My Little Butterfly Children’s Learning & Therapy Center invites parents and caregivers of Children with Special Needs (CSN), therapists, educators and students to a series of Seminar-Workshops this October.

3 October 2009, Saturday

8am-12nn: Overview of Developmental Disorders by Rita Grace R. Villadolid, M.D.
To discuss the causes, signs and symptoms as well as current management options of common developmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Language Disorder and Down Syndrome.

1pm-5pm: Fundamental Movement Skills by Jeffrey Datangel, PTRP
Identification and improvement of fundamental movement skills that are needed to participate in and enjoy sports and many physical activities.

10 October 2009, Saturday

8am-12nn: Speech and Language Development and Improvement by Alissa Ann Lungay, CSP
The elements of Speech and Language Development and tips on how to create a language rich environment at home.

1pm-5pm: Sensory Processing By Lady Suarez, OTRP (with Richard del Rosario and Dangell Villanueva)
Sensory Integration and its implications for daily life – discusses basic principles of sensory integration, identification of dysfunction seen at home, importance of providing sensory rich activities, effects on school and home, and strategies for managing this disorder.

17 October 2009, Saturday

8am-12nn: Handwriting Skills By John Paul Mallari, OTRP (with Vanessa Tan and Chickie Flores)
A seminar for parents and early childhood educators about how to develop skills which are crucial in developing ability to write. Learn how posture, visual perceptual skills and visual motor skills affect handwriting. Specific activities will be given relating to these skills.

1pm-5pm: Parenting Special (and Regular Kids) by Anna Liza Yap Tan Pascual, MRS, OTR/L, OTRP (with Christian Tayag, OTRP)
To discuss parenting styles, making and enforcing rules, tips and techniques.
