If you are a creative Filipino occupational therapist who has invented a product to satisfy the rehabilitation needs of your client, then the Maddak Awards Program may be your chance to shine. This program was started to provide a forum for OT’s and students to share their ideas and innovations with each other.
The 34th Annual Maddak Awards Contest will be held at the American Occupational Therapy Association’s (AOTA) 2008 Annual Conference in Long Beach, California and includes an international category. To qualify for the International Maddak Awards category, entrant must be an Occupational Therapist living outside of the United States. One “Grand Prize” winner will be selected from this category and will receive $1,000.00 along with a certificate of merit.
The Maddak Awards is our tribute to the creativity, ingenuity and dedication of Occupational Therapists who are continually looking for new ways to enhance the rehabilitation of their clients. Many times, when the OT can’t find the right product, he/she makes it. All of these inventions and innovations are important because they satisfy a need in the patient’s rehabilitation process. The basis behind the Awards is to provide a forum for OT’s to share their ideas and innovations with others in the OT community.
Entries are judged on originality, functionality and therapeutic value by a panel of OT’s selected by the AOTA. Winners receive cash prizes and all participants receive certificates of merit. Entries are displayed at the special Maddak Awards booth during the AOTA Exhibit where prospective manufacturers have a chance to view the entries.
