The Hong’s Children Center for Cerebral Palsy will be holding a BOBATH PEDIATRIC BASIC CERTIFICATION 8-WEEK COURSE from May 6 to June 28, 2013 at the Hong’s Children Center for Cerebral Palsy. The following are the details of the course:
The Bobath approach is based on an analysis of the patient’s movement and abilities through the use of specialised handling techniques to inhibit abnormal tone and facilitate more normal movement. This enables the patient to move more efficiently and effectively and to incorporate these movement strategies into their daily activities to maximise recovery from neurological insults.
The course will tackle the following:
· Bobath Concept
· Classification of Cerebral Palsy and Principles of Treatment
· Normal Development
· Group Presentations of Cases and Discussion
· Patient Treatment Demonstration
· OT topics on hand development, visual development, development of perception and cognition, play and equipment, somatosensation, ADLs
· ST topics on breathing and voice, communication, feeding, cognition and language development
· Medical topics on Neuroscience and Orthopedic Approaches
· Handling workshop and mat practice
· Case presentations and Discussion
Course Leader:
Mr. Hong Jung Sun, PT, MPH
Senior International Bobath Pediatric Instructor
Vice Chairman, Asian Bobath Pediatric Instructors Association
President and CEO, Hong’s Children Center for Cerebral Palsy
Other course instructors will be an OT Bobath Instructor, an ST Bobath Instructor, and at least 2 medical doctors. There will also be at least 2 facilitators.
Target Participants:
Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapists, Medical Doctors, Nurses, Special Education Teachers who are working with children with cerebral palsy and other neurologic conditions
Course Schedule:
Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm from May 6 to June 28, 2013

Through scholarship offered by the Hong’s Children Center

The Basic Certification course was moved to a later date, tentatively October 1 to November 22, 2013. As for the fee, kindly email hongcenterph@gmail.com for details. And yes, the course will run for 8 weeks straight.

Hello there.
I would like to clarify the course fee for non scholars of Hong Center. Is it the same USD 1300? I checked the Hong Center website and the course fee for Bobath Pediatric 8 week program is USD6000.

Just wanted to clarify if the basic course for Bobath will consistently imposed the 8 weeks duration of study. I am interested to attend but I am working from Legazpi City as Rehab.Specialist for Children with delays.
