M.O.R.E. – Integrating the Mouth with Sensory and Postural Functions Course

This 2 day workshop aims to provide therapists with a theoretical framework for understanding how and why many aspects of development are significantly influenced by oral function. The relationship of suck/swallow/breathe synchrony to the following areas of child development will also be discussed:

• Behaviour and Learning
• Postural development
• Feeding
• Arousal
• Self-regulation
• Psycho-social development
• Communication
• Common health issues

Participants will be exposed to the relevance of this information to treatment principles with children who have sensory processing/developmental dysfunction through the use of slides, case examples and participant lab activities. Documentation strategies for identifying abnormal function and demonstrating change through treatment will be provided.
