I agree. I do believe that racial discrimination is more common in smaller towns where change is slower than most. There’s this thing called “parochial mindset” as opposed to “cosmopolitan mindset”. In a small town, people expect you to fit into their culture, or you become an outcast. In bigger cities, you are either very famous or you are anonymous.

I just think people should expand their horizons more. Not everything that you hear about a certain place can be true. In fact, I had the same notion as you do before I migrated here in Australia. But it turns out, some are just misconceptions. Yes, the cost of living is high here but we benefit so much from the government. The pay for skilled professionals are not that bad as well. And so far, I have never experienced racial discrimination here as this is a land of migrants. Bottom line is, in order for you to make correct judgments about a certain place, you need to live in the place itself. Just my two cents (once again).
