The Cebu Doctor’s University Department of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Therapy Alumni Association in partnership with Buildabilities Therapy Center invite you to a seminar-workshop on February 21 to 25, 2009, 9 AM to 4 PM, entitled, “Getting Into the Heart of Sensory Integration,” to be held at the Big Amphitheater II (for days one and two) and OT laboratory (for days three to five) of CDU Building, North Reclamation with Lyle Duque, MScOT, OTRP as speaker. Days one and two of the seminar-workshop will be open to all parents, therapists, special education specialists and other paramedical professionals, and students. The entire course of five days is limited only to 25 occupational therapy practitioners.
The Sensory Integration Workshop Series is aimed at helping professionals gain knowledge and skills in using the sensory integration approach. It consists of 5 workshops designed to systematically present sensory integration both as a theory and as an approach to managing the difficulties of children with various conditions. The workshop series will provide participants to actively learn about SI theory and research, engage in assessment, intervention planning and intervention implementation. Each workshop is 7 hours long and some courses have limited slots in order to ensure optimal learning for the participants.
DAY 1 (February 21, 2009)
Course I: Getting into the Heart of Sensory Integration: Understanding the Theory and its Implications for Practice.
DAY 2 (February 22, 2009)
Course 5: Using Sensory Integration with Different Populations.
DAY 3 (February 23, 2009)
Course 2: Assessment of Sensory Processing Skills Using Standardized and Non-Standardized Methods.
DAY 4 (February 24, 2009)
Course 3: Planning Intervention Using a Sensory Integration Framework.
DAY 5 (February 25, 2009)
Course 4: Implementing Sensory Integration- Based Intervention.
Seminar fee for the 25 participants (five-day course takers) is Php 5,000. For the participants of the first and/or second days (Courses I and V) of the seminar-workshop, early registration (on or before February 6, 2009) is Php 800/day for parents and professionals, and Php 500 for students. Late registration (February 7 – 21, 2009) is Php 1,000/day for parents and professionals, and Php 700/day for students.
