Beginning February 22, 2010 NBCOT will post exam-related study questions every Monday morning on the NBCOT Facebook page.

At the time of the posting, NBCOT will not provide the correct responses. Instead, they are encouraging OT and OTA students who are preparing for the NBCOT certification exams to conduct a threaded discussion based on the item. Discussion topics can include:

• What is the correct answer?
• What is the rationale for the correct answer?
• Why are the other response options incorrect?
• What validated domain and task area does this item represent?
• Where can information about the content of the item be found?

Then every Friday morning NBCOT will post the correct responses, rationales, and references for the items posted earlier in the week.

Forums like this will definitely be appreciated by all those who are preparing for the exams. I guess you do what the most that you can to get better prepared without running the risk of getting treatment for adult acne caused by all the stress.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 230 out of 542 passed the Physical and Occupational Therapists Licensure Examinations given by the Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy in the cities of Manila and Cebu this January 2010.

The members of the Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy who gave the licensure examinations are Dr. Reynaldo R. Rey-Matias, Chairman; Raul G. Agustin, Marylynn B. Querouz and Bernadette M. Reyes, Members.

The results were released in two (2) working days from the last day of examinations.

Registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will start on Friday, February 5, 2010 but not later than February 19, 2010. Those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), 1 piece 1” x 1” picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), 2 sets of metered documentary stamps and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession; and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2010-2013. Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

The oathtaking ceremony of the successful examinees in the said examinations as well as the previous ones who have not taken their Oath of Professional will be held before the Board on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the SMX Convention Center Mall of Asia, Pasay City.

Registration for membership with the Philippine Physical Therapy Association, Inc. (PPTA) and Occupational Therapy Association of the Philippines, Inc. (OTAP) will take place after registration as a Professional with the Board and the Commission.

In the midst of scanning through nutrisystem reviews, we stumbled upon important news for all NPTE applicants. The Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) recently announced the following NPTE fee increases in 2010.

• Prometric’s fees for candidates will increase to $70.60 for the PT exam and $55.60 for the PTA exam for candidates sitting for the exam on or after January 1, 2010. Candidates pay this fee directly to Prometric.
• The fee for the PT and PTA National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) will be increased from $350 to $370 effective January 1, 2010. This increase is needed to cover the increased cost for the ongoing maintenance and system enhancements to the NPTE, as well as the increased cost for exam-related security measures. Some of those measures include monitoring, investigation, technology enhancements and related legal expenses in protecting the intellectual property of the FSBPT.
