On January 12th 2010, a powerful earthquake (7.3 on the Richter scale) struck Haiti. It is estimated that 200’000 persons died and the number of injuries is increasing steadily. Although no precise figures are available, it is evident that the need is very high.

CBM is working in Haiti since about 30 years and supports five national partners. in various locations. The partners in Port-au-Prince have all been affected and are currently trying to plan their recovery.

In the aftermath of the earthquake it is estimated that more than 200’000 persons have been injured, and among them about 1/3 will potentially develop secondary disabilities. The lack of professional Physical Therapy in Haiti does not allow proper rehabilitation.

To prevent disability following serious injuries and to maximise the recovery capacity of persons with new disabilities through the provision of physical rehabilitation at hospitals and later community level, CBM’s International Office in Bensheim is accepting applications for Physiotherapists/Occupational Therapists.

The WFOT Executive Management Team have established an international search to fill the Editor’s position for the production of the WFOT Bulletin. The World Federation is asking for your cooperation in circulating this as widely as possible.

The WFOT (World Federation of Occupational Therapists) Bulletin is published twice a year – in May and in November. The production of the WFOT Bulletin is congruent with WFOT’s organizational objectives and priorities in the following aspects:

1. Increase and maintain the awareness, understanding and use of WFOT and the services of occupational therapists; and
2. Facilitate the expansion and dissemination of professional knowledge.
