Some things just aren’t as simple as ABC — and classroom management is one of those. Most teachers, whether they have two days or 20 years of teaching experience, would say that managing a classroom is one of the most challenging aspects of teaching.. Though experience hones skills, each group of students is unique and may respond differently to strategies that worked well previously. For this reason, teachers must acquire a broad repertoire of strategies to draw upon when developing classroom expectations and managing student behaviours.

PT and OT make it to America’s Best Careers List for 2010

Once again, occupational therapy and physical therapy (and maybe those involved in emergency medical assistance as well) has made it to the best-jobs list for 2010, according to U.S. News and World Report.

The Outlook for Physical Therapists
Employment of physical therapists is poised to grow by more than 56,000 jobs, or 30 percent, between 2008 and 2018. That rate would be much faster than average. New treatments and therapies promise to expand the scope of therapy practices, and the aging baby boom generation will increase demand for rehab. Your prospects may be especially strong in rural areas.

The Outlook for Occupational Therapists
Demand for occupational therapists is expected to swell going forward, with employment increasing 26 percent from 2008 to 2018—significantly faster than other fields. As the baby boom generation retires in growing numbers, demand for occupational therapists specializing in elderly treatment will be particularly strong.
